情人節來臨之際，英國保險公司比格爾街（Beagle Street）發起了一項「史上最偉大的十封情書」評選，目的是要尋找英國人最喜愛的浪漫情書，以此鼓勵大家在情人節釋放羅曼蒂克的魅力。
美國鄉村音樂歌手約翰尼·卡什（Johnny Cash）在愛妻瓊·卡特（June Carter）65歲生日時寫下一封發自肺腑的情書，榮登榜單首位。這位被外界稱為「黑衣人」的歌手直白而真摯地寫道：「你是我渴望的人，是我存活於世的唯一理由」（you’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence），這一句已成為手寫情書之最。
比格爾街的總經理馬修·格萊德希爾（Matthew Gledhill）認為，即便在當今社會，一封手寫的情書依然令人欣賞。「一封精心寫作的情書經得起時間的考驗，是感情的恆久記錄，重要的是，這項傳統並沒有消亡。」
